I've been starting to read more articles like this to try and fee 'ready' for my firstborn starting school. I like Vanessa's take on it because a) she's a Melbourne mum and b) she has lots of boys in her house too! Also a very doable tip for paperwork management which won't require pinterest worthy DIY skills. Check out her tips here.
Start thinking now about what you will and won't get yourself in for this Christmas! Read this post by Brene Brown before signing up for the 3 ring circus at your place.
Down to Earth 5 minute bread Rhonda Hetzel wrote a great book called "Down to Earth" and is a bit of a gorgeous Nana whom I look up to in the blog world. She rocks it old school and doesn't post perfect pinterest pictures which just make you feel sad about your lack of togetherness. The bread I made according to her recipe was mag-nif-i-sent! But a bit of an effort so I'll keep trying to improve my process. Tartine Bread - Chad Robbertson Masterclass video from 'The Fresh Loaf' Some friends of mine have perfected this system and I love their bread, plus they have their own sourdough starter (must steal some) which takes love and patience to create and keep alive. I would love to eat this bread everyday forever but yeah, it's a bit of a pipe dream at the moment but google this guy Chad - he says some very delicious and earthy things about bread and seems like a bit of a spunk, just quietly, so your bread research will at least be visually appealing. (Did I say that? Love my husband, FYI). Or just buy the book and lend it to me. Modern Parents Messy Kids: Preventing Entitelment: A Gratitude Chore Game A friend of mine posted this and she is a mother of FOUR BOYS! So I take her pretty seriously on the recommendations front. The article is detailed and has some good tips for involving kids in chores - not because it'll take work off your hands (lets face it, a 2-year old's "helping" isn't really, you know) but because it teaches them SO freakin' many great things and builds character and might even keep them busy for 45 seconds and yeah, cool concept. Includes a great list of chores that are broken down into age appropriate lists if you're wondering what is reasonable to expect from your kiddos. At them moment my Josh is just sitting his little tushie on the dishwasher door when it's open as a sign he'd like to be involved in the dishwasher game. Hmm... is that covered under warranty? Simple Green Smoothies Best Green Smoothies while Pregnant I'm actually pretty keen to do a gentle cleanse at some future stage when I'm not pregnant or breastfeeding (cleansing can be dangerous at these times) and these guys look like they have a great pack, very pretty menu plan and guide here. |
