I think that since starting the journey of 'family' I have discovered that a) I knew almost nothing about everything and b) there is a lot, lot, lot to learn and c) other people are smart. And clever. And experienced. And funny! I should probably learn the easy way from them, instead of the hard way, from my own shenanigans.
In my travels and chats with lots of others, I have seen that those who are on a journey to keep learning, growing and becoming seem happier, more interested in life and more intriguing to be around. Those who struggle to go beyond their own existing knowledge often wonder why they find life a struggle, see everyone else 'coping' better and feel frustrated and powerless. My aim with this blog is to be a lifelong learner, myself, because ultimately I am the only person I can change (thankyou, cliched self-help books from the 90s) and to perhaps walk the journey and point at some signposts for others as they embark upon their own quest to find the ideas, connections and supports which will help them become who they are created to be.
Ok... that got a bit deep!
Meanwhile, today is the 27th December, 2013 and I feel like I am definitely on the cusp of a NEW year. I'm experiencing all those feelings of 'bleugh, why did I eat so badly leading up to Chrsitmas?' and 'Yeah, I'm gonna drink a green smoothie today!' which seem to abound at this time of year. But I invite you to come on the journey with me and think about what you want to learn about, how you want to grow, and what minor Nutella addictions you want to throw off in 2014.
So what are you thinking about making 'new' in the New Year?

PS:- This is Joshie saying, 'No, ma'am!' to his first green smoothie. Admittedly the Kale was in rather alarming chunks that even I couldn't stomach. It's ok, we're learning!
