Nailed:
- The meatball dinner with crunchy cottage fries. (except that I added peas and it ended in a sobbing standoff with my 4 yo because no dinner means no tv and he didn’t finish his peas).
- Made it to not one, but two Mother’s day afternoon Tea/performance thingies for the kids. And lovely as it all was, I was there for the kids because at 2pm in the afternoon when everyone is normally having their rest/sleep time I can tell you where I’d rather be and it’s not in the Mulit-purpose room at school with 60 children and 80 adults, all trying to balance scones, bath salts and hand-coloured Mother’s Day cards.
- Doing a week’s worth of grocery shopping, with a 9 month old baby in trolley in 45 mins.
- Keeping some semblance of a Sabbath rest day. That was so good.
Failed:
- Going into Joshie’s room and repeatedly kicking his door in anger after I smashed the glass jar
- Yelling. All the yelling.
- Not hearing the baby crying in the night because I’d turned the monitor off because her sleepy music was driving me actually insane. Husband pokes me and says: are you going to go into her? Me levitating out of bed and guiltily running down the house to her.
- The mess. All the mess.
- Nearly doing the scary cry during the Mother’s Day video presentation because this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3je9jQf38c completely summed up my week.
